(Do I sound like the friend who has avoided contact and is making excuses? or the guy who promised to call after the first day but never did…)
I am grappling with the decision to either continue this blog or letting it end. I have not written for months and I still have people visiting. Some poor souls have even started to follow me. (Unrequited blogging… I really suck) I am feeling like the guy who turns out the lights and drops to the floor when there is a knock on the door… (not that I have ever done that… you friends who have stopped by my house… if I didn’t answer I wasn’t home… promise)…
Let’s skip all of this awkward talk… to blog or not to blog… that is the question… talk… I don’t want to dwell… it is out… maybe that is enough. Lets just move on to the… “so good to read you again” let’s catch up words.
Ask me what I have been up to since we last met in October…
HEY… thanks for asking. As I mentioned before I have been really busy.
(I know… this is always about me)
Wool and Fiber work…
Unlike the past I will not go into every detail about how and what but just show some of my projects. These are made from Llama, Sheep, Possum (yes… not a typo), bamboo, and rabbit fibers… They also are either natural colored or colored from natural dyes…
All of that felt a bit indulgent and boastful… I am picturing a portion of you mocking which makes it all feel a bit better… (keeping my pride in check)
Travel… Since October: Bolivia (twice), London, and Israel
I have been traveling maybe even more than normal I would like to share a couple picture from my trips.
Bolivia
London
I know I have not done London justice with pictures… I was in meetings most of the time. ( I have saved some of my weird pictures for future posts… )
Israel
I left off this blog in October talking about Israel. I think it would be rude to show many pictures of the place… so here are a few.
I got to go now…
Sorry I know we just got started and it has been a long time…
Hey! I’ve missed seeing your adventures so yes, please continue blogging:) Please.
Your weaving and dyeing are just gorgeous!! I think you’re raising your children right if they bring back fiber for you on their travels.
Don’t stay away so long. I was getting ready to send out a search party:)
well. THERE you are! Been a while. I see your beard is bit longer, a tiny more gray……you look far more tired than you ever did before……how would I know? You sound tired my friend. I’d miss you if you stopped completely, and besides, where else can I get wierd and wonderful combinations of plant life for dye suggestions than right here?
So nice to read you again!!! You are right I have had a tough trip this last go around… 3 nights on different planes… and 4 nights in 3 different hotels… 3 different cities and 3 different countries…. been a rough week and I am exhausted… catching plane in 30 minutes on my way home….
ASH! 🥳 🥳Where / How have ya been? Of course that’s a rhetorical question given you’ve probably been to more places in the 3 months than ordinary folks like us have ever been to in a lifetime. 😊 But I think you’ve answered your own question – there would be a “next time”, it’s just a matter of when. When we push ourselves so hard to follow a routine, it will eventually catch us out. (At least say a proper goodbye before you pull the plug eh??)
How did you manage to take that photo on the escalators? Were you guys travelling up and down those escalators just so to grab the perfect shot? The cat was also obviously as tired as you were – a good napping place. 😅
The first picture was taken by a fast walking co-worker… (or maybe I was a the slow walker)… It is good to read you again… I will wander over and read your blog… it has been a while!
Possum, eh? Methinks it better not to ask how one aquires those fibers…. I’m always happy to see your adventures. I haven’t posted in a few months either, so judgement free here.
Thanks for stopping by… and this will sound wrong… but I mean it nicely… I am glad you haven’t posted for a while… was worried I missed some of you hilarious posts… this way I know I am not too far behind on my catch up reading
Wow, you’ve been busy…your beautiful weavings speak for themselves…I, too went MIA for a wee while and am slowly making my way back…it’s good to see you pop up on my feed again!
As for your absence/wondering if blogging had run its course–I feel ya’ (platonic commiseration 🙂 )…and, what beautiful textiles!!! Also, as ever, your photos are magic…thanks for sharing and for coming back when you were ready….unconditional love (and reading) my friend…you need never apologize for absence, for life is life…soooooo glad to see you, again 🙂

Life conspired against me. And Netflix. But, the itch to write needs scratched and soon. I have many a story to tell 🙂
